Caroline specialises in weight reduction therapy. Dependent on how much weight a client would like or need to reduce by Caroline can offer two programmes of therapy. For those clients who have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of less than 30, Caroline tailors hypnotherapy to address the issues which have predominantly made each client gain the weight, and by using a variety of techniques can facilitate new neural pathway creation and thereby re-programming the subconscious mind to help achieve their goal.
Prospective clients needing to reduce their weight by a greater amount, due to being in the obese category of over 30 BMI, can benefit from Hypno-Band therapy; a revolutionary weight reduction system which effectively allows your mind to believe that your body has undergone the physical gastric band operation. The Hypno-Band therapy is a safe non-invasive method of reducing in weight, without any of the risks involved of major surgery, or the huge financial cost
When you smoke your heart rate soars and your whole nervous system is stimulated into greater agitation. A cigarette gives you a two minute fix of dopamine combined with 48 hours of an agitated nervous system. You keep going back for that good feeling to counteract the agitation.... only to increase the agitation. Cigarettes hold out a promise of relaxation that they NEVER deliver!
'Hypnosis is the most effective way of giving up smoking, according to the largest ever scientific comparison of ways of breaking the habit.' - New Scientist v136
To find the most effective method to stop smoking Frank Schmidt and research student Chockalingham Viswesvaran from the University of Iowa used a meta-analysis, utilising the results of more than 600 studies totalling nearly 72,000 people.
The results, which were published in the Journal of Applied Psychology and included 48 studies of hypnosis covering 6000 smokers, clearly showed that hypnosis, to use the same terminology as a quit counsellor, was three times more effective than NRT (nicotine replacement therapy).
Interestingly the latest research on NRT (see "NRT hyped" on BBC website) shows a success rate of only 7.2%, barely better than willpower alone! Yet NRT is the currently recommended treatment for smoking cessation under the NHS.
It's never too late to quit smoking. According to the American Cancer Society, about half of all smokers who keep smoking will die from a smoking-related disease. Quitting has immediate health benefits.
Insomnia and sleep problems tend to start in isolation but can soon develop into bad habits. If you think you won't be able to sleep, it's almost certain that you won't. Hypnotherapy can help you to develop new expectations and make insomnia a thing of the past.
If you try not to think of an orange bus, you'll probably think of one. If you try to get an irritating song out of your head, you'll probably struggle. Of course, if you have to try to fall asleep, you're probably already suffering from insomnia. Let's face it, you aren't supposed to try to fall asleep, you're supposed to just do it.
First of all hypnotherapy generally involves hypnosis combined with relaxation which in itself is one of the key elements in falling asleep easily. First you learn to relax physically; with practice this is very quick and very simple. Secondly, you learn to relax mentally. This can be frustratingly difficult if you're in "orange bus" mode but learning self-hypnosis will soon make it very easy indeed. You will learn to be a falling asleep expert. In fact, many people come to see a hypnotherapist for something they believe to be completely unrelated and are amazed that their sleep improves as a consequence of dealing with the other thing. This is one of the most empowering effects of hypnosis - you learn to change one thing and so many other things fall into place.
Hypnosis will help you take control and re-educate your mind into relaxing easily into sleep. You can learn new and natural ways to fall asleep using relaxation exercises and techniques which have worked for countless others. Hypnosis can also help you to learn how to just slow things down. Modern life is notoriously rushed. When you're ready to fall asleep a racing mind doesn't help!

Let's start with a brief explanation of the difference between a fear and a phobia.
Fear exists for a reason and can be a very useful survival mechanism. After all, it's fear that lets you know that you need to take care of yourself and the people in your life. It's like a voice saying: 'You need to take action', and as such, it is rational.
Phobias, on the other hand, are very different. They are irrational in nature, being out of all proportion to the object or situation which elicits the fear. People can be phobic towards almost anything, from velvet to water. Phobias really serve no useful purpose.
Most phobias, surprisingly, can be dealt with during just one session. Fears can be dealt with in 2 to 4 sessions.
IBS, if diagnosed properly, can be cured without medication. It has been proven over the years that sufferers of IBS are normally people who suffer stress. IBS is a direct result of stress. Bereavement, illness, job loss, marital breakdown and the general stresses and strains of modern living are all directly connected with IBS. Effective treatment for IBS can take place usually over 3 sessions, although further sessions may be required.
As well as all the above, I can offer treatment in:
